Computer & Technical Requirements

Computer Skills Necessary for Distance Learning Courses

students Before registering for an online class, you need to have the following minimum knowledge of basic computer skills:
  • keyboard typing
  • cut, copy, paste text
  • email and adding attachments
  • save documents
  • open attachments
  • open pdf files

Technical Requirements

In order to take an online class, you must have access to the Internet, either through an Internet Service Provider or from any campus Computer Lab.

Hardware Requirements:
PC Configuration:
  • CPU: 733 MHz or better Pentium III processor
  • Memory: 256 MB RAM
  • Hard Drive: 10 GB
  • Operating System: Windows XP with service pack III or Vista
  • Speakers:  Internal or External

Macintosh Configuration:
  • CPU: 500 MHz or better
  • Memory: 256 MB RAM
  • Hard Drive: 30 GB
  • Operating System: Macintosh OS
  • Speakers: Internal or External
