These courses are designed to satisfy the 24 hour in-service education requirement, which is part of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) renewal process (TAC; Title 40; Part 1; Chapter 94; Rule §94.9). “Effective September 1, 2013, a nurse aide renewing a certification must complete at least 24 hours of in-service education every two years that includes training in geriatrics and the care of residents with a dementia disorder, including Alzheimer’s disease.”

El Centro, Continuing Education is an approved in-service education site.

If your license is expired or you are unsure what course you need to renew your certification, you must contact TDADS to verify what documents you need to recertify your license. The state of Texas maintains a registry of all nurse aides who are certified to provide services in nursing facilities and skilled nursing facilities licensed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability.
