The study of word origin and structure through the introduction of prefixes, suffixes, root words, plurals, abbreviations and symbols, surgical procedures, medical specialties, and diagnostics procedures.  Emphasis will be on identification, definition, spelling and the application of medical terms relating to the human body, specific medical tests and medical procedures.  Course also includes an introduction to anatomy and physiology. Course Description: A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. The student will apply the theory, concepts, and skills involving specialized materials, tools, equipment, procedures, regulations, laws, and interactions within and among political, economic, environmental, social, and legal systems associated with the occupation and the business/industry and will demonstrate legal and ethical behavior safety practices, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and appropriate written and verbal communication skills using the terminology of the occupation. Students must purchase liability insurance , drug screening and criminal background check in order to be eligible for the Practicum..
Introduction to Bilingual Pathophysiology will be offered in the Spring of 2015 .  Topics are presented in both English and Spanish.
