The CARE Team has developed a form to report concerns about or issues with students. The new form is a way to expand the team’s efforts to help students who are in need of assistance.
Who is the CARE Team?
The ECC CARE Team consists of Administrators, Campus Police, a faculty member from each academic department, a representative from each campus, counselors, and representatives from various Student Services.
What does the CARE Team do?
The CARE Team intervenes and responds to students by connecting them with resources and support. Interventions are designed to equip students of concern with the greatest chance of success and the ECC Community with the greatest level of protection. In other words, the CARE Team addresses students whose behavior or emotional/psychological health condition may be harmful to themselves, others or the learning environment. The CARE Team meets weekly to review all reports using NaBITA standards.
What to Report:
Student exhibits significant changes in demeanor (e.g. a previously well groomed student begins to present with poor grooming)
Student appears sad or depressed in a manner that may suggest intervention is needed
Student makes suicidal remarks or attempts
Student’s emotional response is highly unusual and/or exaggerated or their behavior appears highly disturbed
Student has submitted disturbing written material or has made threats; direct or indirect (e.g. references to guns or punching walls near someone in an intimidating/threatening fashion)
Students who are continually disrespectful or fail to manage their mood on campus or while interacting online
If there is an emergency, please call campus police directly and immediately!
